At Wefulfil, we understand that handling customer returns is an important part of running an eCommerce brand. However, international returns are often much more complex and expensive than domestic returns, especially for cross-border DTC brands.
This guide explains how Wefulfil supports return handling, what limitations may apply, and when a return solution is recommended.
Important Things to Know About International Returns
Unlike local 3PL providers, Wefulfil operates primarily as a China-based fulfillment partner.
This means:
- Not every country supports local return warehouse services
- International return shipping can be expensive
- Returned products usually require:
- inspection
- quality checking
- repacking
- relabeling
- restocking
For many low-ticket products, the cost of processing a return may exceed the product value itself.
Because of this, we always recommend evaluating whether returns are commercially reasonable before enabling return services.
Option 1 — Return to Your Own Local Address (Recommended)
If your business already has a local office, warehouse, partner, or address in the destination country, we strongly recommend returning parcels locally.
This is the most cost-effective and customer-friendly solution.

Option 2 — Return to China Warehouse
Wefulfil can support returns back to our China warehouse in certain situations.
However, there are important limitations.
Important Notes
- Customers are responsible for return shipping costs
- Wefulfil cannot arrange parcel pickup from consumers
- Returned parcels must be shipped directly by the customer
- International return transit times may be long
- Customs clearance may apply in some countries
Returned Products Require Reprocessing
After the parcel arrives at our warehouse, products usually require:
- unpacking
- inspection
- condition checking
- barcode verification
- repacking
- relabeling
- re-shelving
Additional handling fees may apply depending on the condition of the returned products.
Using a Virtual Return Address
Some brands prefer not to show a China return address directly to customers because it may negatively impact the customer experience.
In this situation, many sellers choose to:
- use a virtual local return address
- work with local postal forwarding services
- consolidate returns before shipping internationally
This is a common cross-border eCommerce solution and can help improve customer trust and return acceptance rates.
Option 3 — Return Helper Local Return Service

Additional countries may be available depending on the return request.

Professional return processing is significantly more expensive than standard fulfillment.
Typical return handling costs may include:

In many cases, the total processing cost can exceed:
$20 USD per returned parcel
Because of this:
Returns are usually NOT recommended for:
- low-value products
- low-margin products
- inexpensive accessories
- products cheaper than the total return handling cost

- products requiring warranty handling
- products with strong resale value
